This might just be me having a twisted view on things, but I don't find 32k for
music particularly extreme. Also, I would not expect oldskool musicians to be
happy to compete on equal size terms against big, fancy softsynths on modern
platforms.
How about using the same size difference in the exe music compo as in the exe
graphics compo: 4k for newskool, 40k for oldskool? This will make the newskool
entries far more interesting, and it will make oldskool musicians feel they are
not being completely scrapped. And it will introduce some nice symmetry. :)
Not that size and platform restrictions are comparable in any way, but in the
absence of space in the schedule for more compos, I think it would be a better
compromise. You will end up comparing apples to oranges rather than grapes to
watermelons...
