Web Gallery Spirited Herring is renewing!

Live Herring and Arctic and Fabulous Film Festival organize Demoscene club 
on Fri November the 20th 2009 from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Bar Vakiopaine 
(Kauppakatu 6, Jyväskylä) to celebrate the re-opening of Web Gallery 
Spirited Herring. Gallery has been under construction but now it will be 
opened completely renewed!

Artist Pilvari Pirtola from Alternative Party organization from Helsinki 
has chosen the demos presented at the club. He will also present the show 
in Jyväskylä. On the program there will about 40 demos from Finnish and 
foreign artists, for example mfx, Inward, Kosmoplovci, Aspekt, Orange, 
Matt Current, SQNY, Kewlers, Flo and Byterapers.

Web Gallery Spirited Herring (http://www.webgalleria.net/) is the first 
Finnish web gallery. It was founded by member of Live Herring work group 
Päivi Hintsanen in the mid 1990's. By organizing Demoscene club Web 
Gallery Spirited Herring returns to its origins, because demos were 
presented especially in the early years of the Web Gallery Spirited 
Herring. Web Gallery Spirited Herring is a project of the Arts Council of 
Central Finland.

Demoscene is computer art subculture born in the mid 1980's. It 
concentrates in producing demos, which are non-interactive audio-visual 
presentations that run in real-time on a computer. Demos work well in club 
because music has an important role in them. Alternative Party ry is an 
association that organizes annually Alternative Party, one of the biggest 
demoscene party in Finland (more information:

Galleria Henkevä Silakka avautuu uudistuneena 20.11.2009!

Live Herring -työryhmä ja Arktisen Upeeta -elokuvafestivaali järjestävät 
yhteistyössä uusiutuneen Galleria Henkevän Silakan avajaisjuhlat 
Demoskene-klubin muodossa Bar Vakiopaineessa (Kauppakatu 6, Jyväskylä) 
perjantaina 20.11.09 klo 21.00 - 1.00. Galleria on ollut uudistustyön alla 
ja klubin myötä se vihdoin avataan virallisesti.

Illan ohjelman on koostanut ja sen saapuu esittämään Jyväskylään Alternative 
Party ry:ssä vaikuttava helsinkiläinen kuvataiteilija Pilvari Pirtola. Illan 
aikana esitetään noin 40 demoa suomalaisilta ja ulkomaisilta tekijöiltä, mm. 
seuraavilta ryhmiltä mfx, Inward, Kosmoplovci, Aspekt, Orange, Matt Current, 
SQNY, Kewlers, Flo sekä Byterapers.

Galleria Henkevä Silakka (http://www.webgalleria.net/) on Live Herring 
-työryhmän jäsenen Päivi Hintsasen 1990-luvun puolivälissä perustama Suomen 
ensimmäinen verkkotaidegalleria. Demoskene-klubin myötä Galleria Henkevä 
Silakka palaa juurilleen, sillä Galleria Henkevässä Silakassa demoja oli esillä 
erityisesti gallerian alkuaikoina, 1990-luvun loppupuolella. Galleria Henkevää 
Silakkaa ylläpitää Keski-Suomen taidetoimikunta.

Demoskene on 1980-luvulla syntynyt alakulttuuri, jossa luodaan 
ohjelmoimalla tietokoneelle näyttäviä visuaalisia efektejä tuottavia 
ohjelmia, demoja. Demot sopivat hyvin klubiympäristöön, sillä niissä 
oleellisessa osassa on myös musiikki. Alternative Party ry järjestää 
Helsingissä yhtä Suomen suurinta demoskeneen keskittyvää tapahtumaa
