Message-ID: Hello all oldskool people! (Viesti suomeksi katkon j?lkeen) My name is Jaakko Vallo, and I'm the producer for AssemblyTV. That is, I'm the guy responsible for getting the show from Assembly venue to your desired viewing location. Assembly Summer 2015 is approaching rapidly, and we're putting together something very special this time around! Nothing short of a "world first" is brewing, that is, first ever demo competition and compo studio broadcast on a national TV-channel! Aww yeah! Aside from this bit of a special programming, we are in dire need of guests and hosts for our compo studios. Without further ado, here's a message from our compo studio producer Maaren Rekola: ** Do you like demos? Good. Do you like talking about them? Even better. Do you like talking about them with other people in front of a camera? Great! We are looking for demo compo studio host and guests for this years Assembly Summer compo studios. This years compos include several music compos, graphics compos and real time compos (full list here: http://www.assembly.org/demoscene/). If you would like to attend the studios as a guest, email me at maaren.rekola at assembly.org with "Compo studio guest" on the subject line. Please include the studio/s you are able to attend. If you feel like taking on the host role, drop me an email abovementioned address with the subject "I want to be a host" and tell us a little about yourself and your history with demoscene. If you'd like to host a single studio, that is also possible. Just include the name of the compo in the email. We are not looking for a professional host: we want someone who knows about demos and is enthusiastic about the topic in hand and isn't too camera shy. Last year's production can be viewed at http://archive.assembly.org/2014/assemblytv. See you at Assembly Summer! Assemblyn tapahtumapaikalta teid?n valittuihin p??telaitteisiinne. Assembly Summer 2015 l?hestyy hurjaa vauhtia, ja meill? on kypsym?ss? jotain hyvin erityist? t?h?n tapahtumaan! Ensimm?ist? kertaa maailmassa, partyn demokilpailu studio-osuuksineen l?hetet??n kansalliseen televisioverkkoon TV2:lla! Aww yeah! T?m? erityinen ohjelmanumero poislukien, tarvitsemme kipe?sti vieraita ja juontajia compostudioihimme. Turhemmitta l?tin?itt?, t?ss? viestin compostudoiden tuottajalta Maaren Rekolalta: ** Pid?tk? demoista? Hyv?. Pid?tk? siit? ett? voit keskustella demoista? Viel? parempi. Pid?tk? siit? ett? voit keskustella kameran edess? demoista? Mainiota! Etsimme compostudioihin juontajaa sek? vieraita t?m?n vuoden Assembly Summereille. T?n? vuonna compoja j?rjestet??n muun muassa musiikista, grafiikasta ja real time compoina (t?ysi lista t??lt?: http://www.assembly.org/demoscene/). Jos haluat osallistua vieraana, l?het? mailia osoitteeseen maaren.rekola at assembly.org otsikolla "Compo studio guest". Viime vuoden tuotoksiin voit tutustua osoitteessa http://archive.assembly.org/2014/assemblytv. N?hd??n Assemblyill?! Embarrassingly, I wrote down a wrong email address. You can reach producer Maaren Rekola at maaren.rekola at gmail.com. We have had success with hosts, but we are still looking for guests to participate in the compostudios. Please let Maaren know if you are available! --Jaakko -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Today marks the tenth anniversary of the first release of Crinkler. Some of you might remember our talk at Assembly 2005, where we introduced this new way of compressing 4k intros. Ten years and hundreds of 4k intros later, we are currently preparing a major update to Crinkler, which will be out at some point before this year's Assembly. The main new feature is a special mode for compressing 1k intros which typically saves more than 100 bytes compared to usual Crinkler compression. Assembly has become one of the primary battlegrounds for 1k intros, so the timing is fortunate (and not entirely coincidental). Thus, we are reaching out to everybody who are working on a 1k intro for Assembly (and plan to use Crinkler) to tell you that you have 100 bytes more to spend. :) In order for this improvement to benefit every contestant - to enable a general quality lift in the compo - it is important to spread these news as widely as possible among potential contestants. Thus, we are also reaching out to the Assembly organizers to ask for assistance and suggestions for this "marketing campaign". Some ideas for places where it could be relevant to advertise (apart from Pouet and other such public places): - In the 1k compo rules - In the 1k compo summary - On the big screen during the party Other suggestions? Comments? We will return with more information once the release is out. -Blueberry From blueberry at loonies.dk Tue Jul 28 20:59:39 2015 From: blueberry at loonies.dk (Aske Simon Christensen) Date: Tue, 28 Jul 2015 19:59:39 +0200 Subject: [ASM scene] Crinkler 1k mode pre-announcement In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: Hello again! Crinkler 2.0 with special 1k options is now released! Read about all the new features at http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=18158#c734352 For Assembly organizers: to pull attention to the release, how about putting something like this in the 1k compo rules: "ATTENTION: A new version of Crinkler was recently released which usually reduces the size of a 1k intro by more than 100 bytes compared to traditional Crinkler compression. Be sure to try it out if you are making a 1k intro for the Windows platform!" where the first "Crinkler" is a link pointing to the above URL? -Blueberry On Tue, Jul 21, 2015 at 11:11 PM, Aske Simon Christensen < blueberry at loonies.dk> wrote: > Hello Assembly oldskoolers! > > Today marks the tenth anniversary of the first release of Crinkler. > Some of you might remember our talk at Assembly 2005, where we > introduced this new way of compressing 4k intros. > > Ten years and hundreds of 4k intros later, we are currently preparing > a major update to Crinkler, which will be out at some point before > this year's Assembly. > > The main new feature is a special mode for compressing 1k intros which > typically saves more than 100 bytes compared to usual Crinkler > compression. This means that the actual starting time of the demo compo is *uncertain.* The CS:GO finals will start on Saturday at 21:00. The final may take an hour, two hours, 2.5 hour, 3 hour or 3.5 hours. After the final ends we'll have a 10 minute technical break and the demo compo will then start immediately. As I know many of you will be at Boozembly, I'm looking for a (mostly) sober volunteer who will be at Boozembly and has a loud voice. We'll call you to let everyone at Boozembly know when to head indoors to watch the compo. So if you are going to hang out at Boozembly and want to help make sure no one misses the demo compo, please email me directly at abyss at assembly.org. Also if someone has a travel TV that you can bring to Boozembly, then you can watch demos at Boozembly and stay updated when the CS final ends on your own. Anyway, apologies for the hassle and see you at Boozembly tonight. -- Jussi Laakkonen abyss / ASMORG +358-40-582-3959 -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:
