Moi, Samuel Rauste wear old skool ticket one year in his hand. Also my son Daniel are Aalto University and looking for summer jobs. They are really smart like rocket new Engineers.

Moi,
I did not have problem getting oldskool tickets to kids and couple friend. Samuli was so proud that he wear the oldskool ticket one year in his hand. Nowadays he is studying Aalto Computer Engineering. Kids should be motivated. I think we hear about him later.

Adding my self to the list of wanting to bring kids to demoscene-area. One I'm planning to bring doesn't yet have credits in any demo, but they are very interested of making something.
These rules could be circumvented by the book quite easily anyway - I could just organize a private demo competition next weekend and thell my kid to make a hello triangle, so the rules are a bit nonsensical anyway.

Hey everyone.
I think this new rule that doesn’t allow more than one demoscene place for each ”real” demoscener is quite problematic. Not everyone in the scene hangs out with only other sceners. We have friends and family too, people we might want to sit next to when we go to Assembly. And nowdays the demoscene tickets are not even the cheapest computer place tickets of them all, so is there really a problem if some of my not (yet) demoscene qualified friends would come along with me? It’s not about exploiting the cheap tickets anymore. You could even rise the prices little if you want. And put some more tables if needed. Or is it about non-sceners/gamers ruining the atmosphere, is that the problem? Remember how we used to play or still do. It’s not a shame is it, at least in Assembly? Or is it all about encouraging people to participate in the compos to get their own demoscene rights too, just to get that demoscene place next time? Guess what, my friends are not encouraged by this at all, not really. They will just buy a normal visitor ticket, if at all, and continue to be interested about demoscene from far, perhaps a little bit farther that before. So Assembly, please consider changing this next year, if not this year.

Thanks Pekka and Matti on this.
I hope it will be OK to book in the demoscene arena. I'm there to participate and for the demoscene atmosphere. Not letting new folks sit there would feel a bit odd/exclusive.
At the same time, I understand not everyone should get the discounted prices. Unfortunately it is not possible to book in that area without first entering the code. But I'm happy to pay extra at the entrance or whatever would be needed to make it work?
Kind regards
noglin

Hey Tatu, similar situation here. I've visited Assembly for over 20 years, and participated a lot the last 10 years or so, but this year I'll bring my son (11y). He has actually made wild demos before with his sister and his mom ( https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=69776 <https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=69776> and https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=93923 <https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=93923> ), so is that sufficient for oldkool status? He probably won't make any production, but I will, and do want to sit next to him. Should I try 2 oldkool tickets or 2 gamer tickets?

Subject: Re: [Oldskool] Assembly Summer 2024 tickets
Hey there again!
Please clarify:
- do we have to have tickets in demoscene area to be allowed to participate in demo compos? (this year I don't find any info about that, last year it says only oldskool tickets are allowed to participate:, https://assembly.org/en/events/summer23/tickets <https://assembly.org/en/events/summer23/tickets> )
- I am going with my son (12y old) he wants to participate in the beginner demo, and I want to participate in the demo compos. I prefer we sit in the demoscene area. By the email it seems we both must have "oldskool" status to buy 2 tickets there? (We applied for him today, I understand if you would not qualify him as oldskool, but how else can we buy a ticket for him in the demoscene arena? What's the path for a new scener?)
- He will definitely want to game, he is 12. Is that a problem to sit in the demoscene arena if he will also game? If so, should we book tickets nearby instead? will be both be allowed to participate in compos and attend workshops if not in the demoscene arena?
Kind regards
Julien

Hey Tatu!
I'm a scener (handle noglin, pouet: https://www.pouet.net/user.php?who=102502 <https://www.pouet.net/user.php?who=102502> ).
I'm planning to go with my 12 year old son to assembly, he will definitely game but he is also planning to make a beginners demo, and I'm planning to participate in the demoscene compos too.
I will obviously want to sit next to him, and as close to the demoscene area as possible (and preferably in it).
But I'm not sure how this works... it seems we cannot both get demoscene tickets(?). I could not find info about the ticket types but reading last years info: https://assembly.org/en/events/summer23/tickets <https://assembly.org/en/events/summer23/tickets> it seems only those with old school tickets can participate? (I hope I'm misunderstanding).
What would you advise we do?
Kind regards
Julien

Hey Sceners,
Get ready for Assembly Summer 2024, taking place from August 1st to August 4th at Helsinki Messukeskus. Once again, we're bringing you a fully-packed demoscene event featuring compos and an awesome scenelounge. Stay tuned for more details about the program as the event draws nearer.
Ticket sales are now open! Secure your spot by purchasing tickets here: https://www.tiketti.fi/tarjous <https://www.tiketti.fi/tarjous> using code: ASMDEMOS24
We're implementing this year some changes to the tickets:
* We're rebranding our tickets from Oldskool to Demoscene. This is based on your feedback! We welcome all demosceners, whether you're a new scener, or an oldskooler. You don't have to have visited First party in 1989 or consumed a specific beer to be considered an oldskooler. Oldskool area will be also renamed to Demoscene in the future.
* To gain access to this oldskool list, you still need to apply via a form <https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdgygX7V408smyg0QO-BYYS0Giu3S99fbSMqewXOFNOe2ADAw/viewform> and have at least one demoscene compo entry under your name on demozoo.org <http://demozoo.org> or pouet.net <http://pouet.net> . Once approved, you'll enjoy lifetime membership privileges.
* Tickets are non-transferable and strictly for personal use. They cannot be purchased for family or friends who are not demoscene members, nor can they be resold. Violation of this rule may result in revocation of membership.
* Demoscene computer tickets now come with an upgrade to Premium computer places, offering access to the Premium lounge (valued at 28 euros). The new price for a demoscene computer place is 95 euros.Price is 54.50 euros cheaper than normal Premium computer place.
* Entry tickets are priced at 47.50 euros (normal entry is 55 euros).

We value your feedback. Feel free to respond directly to this email or use our social media channels to share your thoughts. Please note that replying to all will send your message to everyone on the list, so if you have something personal to discuss, reply only to my email address. Thank you!
We look forward to seeing you all at Assembly Summer 2024!
Best regards,
