Hello Assembly oldskoolers!

Today marks the tenth anniversary of the first release of Crinkler.
Some of you might remember our talk at Assembly 2005, where we
introduced this new way of compressing 4k intros.

Ten years and hundreds of 4k intros later, we are currently preparing
a major update to Crinkler, which will be out at some point before
this year's Assembly.

The main new feature is a special mode for compressing 1k intros which
typically saves more than 100 bytes compared to usual Crinkler
compression. Assembly has become one of the primary battlegrounds for
1k intros, so the timing is fortunate (and not entirely coincidental).

Thus, we are reaching out to everybody who are working on a 1k intro
for Assembly (and plan to use Crinkler) to tell you that you have 100
bytes more to spend. :)

In order for this improvement to benefit every contestant - to enable
a general quality lift in the compo - it is important to spread these
news as widely as possible among potential contestants. Thus, we are
also reaching out to the Assembly organizers to ask for assistance and
suggestions for this "marketing campaign".

Some ideas for places where it could be relevant to advertise (apart
from Pouet and other such public places):
- In the 1k compo rules
- In the 1k compo summary
- On the big screen during the party

Other suggestions? Comments?

We will return with more information once the release is out.

-Blueberry
